Rindy Schutz

I am a 33-year old wife and mother. I work full time as a financial analyst for an aviation consulting firm, and in my free time I like to hike, read, sew, knit, and paint. I love painting landscapes, and playing with light and contrast.
 

Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
I have an 11-year-old daughter and a 1-year old son, they share a birthday. My husband is a police detective, has worked as an officer for over ten years. We have two dogs, a blue heeler and a pug.

Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
My current career is in business and financial management. I love being the person who keeps things running, the go-to person in the business for operations. In the past, I've worked as a police dispatcher and 911 telecommunicator, I've edited airline manuals, transcribed focus group interviews, worked in early childcare, and operated heavy machinery in a heat treating facility.

Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
Our favorite restaurants in our community are Texas Roadhouse, and Mi Cocina over at Alliance Ttown Center.

Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
We have lived in North Fort Worth for 6 years, but just recently moved to this area of far north Fort Worth / Justin.

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
I would love to travel to the Mediterranean, spend some time on a beautiful beach trying all the Mediterranean cuisines, or maybe New Zealand where I could hike along the Hobbits trail.

Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
Favorite movie is Fifth Element, followed by the LOTR movies, and Home, the cute Dreamworks movie with Jim Parsons voicing the little Boov alien.

Q: What advice would you give to people?
Be kind. You never know what someone else is going through.

Q: What is something on your bucket list?
spend a month on an Indian reservation learning about my heritage, go on a shamanic retreat learning from the womb priestesses of Bali

Q: What is your go to band when you cant decide what to listen to?
Dead Letter Circus or 3 Doors Down. Great vocals, great lyrics, I just love listening to them both.

Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?
Alliance Airport

Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y'all meet for this lunch?
I would love to meet Levar Burton for lunch at Chipotle. He's been such an inspirational figure in my life, reading, science, exploration, and he seems so genuine and down-to-earth.

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
I love the airplanes, so many different kinds of planes always overhead being so near to the Alliance Airport

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
I don't expect a lot of change in 5-10 years, I love my job, my kids are still young, hopefully we'll be traveling a bit more.

Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don't know about you?
My children, 10 years apart, were both born on my father's birthday. I can wiggle my ears. I hate corn.

Q: What is the most beautiful place you have ever been?
Gorman Falls in Bend Texas, rough hike but so worth it. I could sit and listen to the falls all day.

Q: Favorite month? favorite holiday? and best single day on the calendar?
Would have to say April 1st, it's the anniversary of the day my husband and I met on a blind date, and it feels like the beginning of spring

Q: What would you rate a 10 out of 10?
the mesquite chicken and mashed potatoes at Logan's Roadhouse

Q: Who inspires you to be better?
My kids are my anchor, I continue to strive to be a better version of myself for them.

Q: What is one or two of your favorite smells?
The rain, the forest

Q: Finally, what 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?
family, comfort, love
